nasi lemak bungkus is the best!
i'm on a quest to search for the perfect nasi lemak along my route to school. the best nasi lemak to me, must have really lemak rice and the sambal must have a kick to it and tad sweet too. I have no qualms of traveling just for the sake of eating nasi lemak and when i see a good food review given to a particular stall, i'll go check it out sooner or later. good thing hubs indulges me. Nasi lemak may seem fattening and makes a person drowsy after consuming a plate but it's just one breakfast item too irresistable.
breakfast is my most favourite meal of the day eventhough i tend to skip it much too often. the canteen at my school has too little to offer choosing to sell the same dishes day by day. Their sambal is more like a mere sauce made of ground chillies. distateful! hence the search ..
so i've noticed quite a few gerais by the road side as i drive every day to school. Starting since last week i've decided to stop and try them out one by one. so far, no complaints of the taste but only the portions. some tend to be too small in its offerings. But the price of these roadside nasi lemaks really stuns me .. have u ever found nasi lemak with chicken for a mere rm2.20? The chicken is cut as the average size when a whole chicken is cut into eight pieces and the portion of rice is fit for adult consumption. It tastes good too. This makcik who sells them is friendly to bits and really sincere in her selling having not raising her price according to others. I shouldnt be surprised cos this place is still considered rural with low income residents. so far, this is the stall i frequent at least twice a week.another case is a student of mine who has a mother selling nasi lemak in small packs (like the size of nasi lemak city garden, KL). She sells them for a mere 25 cents. REALLY! u hafta buy 2 packs for the hunger pangs but it will only set u back 50 cents. hotcakes do not vanish as quickly as her nasi. only in jeramville!
i've yet to stop to more than 5 stalls along my route cos i drive about 15 Km to school every morning. Quite a long stretch. i love my array of choices cos unlike KL, u can hardly find them at night.
Bein on the food quest means having to wake up earlier than normal cos i have to fix my tumbler of milk coffee too to accompany my nasi lemak. will i ever find the perfect bungkus?
