all about ayah

*since my lil sis wrote something about ayah .. i chose to do one entry for one of the important men in my life apart from hubs and kids. if you were in our position the last weekend, u will understand why the sudden urge to write about this special man.

ayah is the sole provider for our family so he works real hard to give us happiness and good education. education is really important and stressed upon but sadly not one of us gave much interest to physics, ayah's passion. we take everything ayah gives us for granted cos we get almost everything we want. i think i give the most grief to ayah speeding him to old age.

tired entertaining his daughters and grandsons

i remember one incident like it was yesterday when ayah bought me a box of colour pencils. one colour was missing so i insisted that he stop at the shop where we bought it the next day to change the set. ayah was running late to work that he didnt stop at the shop. I screamed til he turned the car back to the store and fulfil my demand. how terrible i was. and there were countless times that i insisted on a particular toy or book, never minding that it was still far from pay day or the exorbitant price. i can still see his creased face, how he felt sad that he couldnt give what i wanted. now my sons are good at making demands and i feel what ayah felt.

i'm also the one who couldnt face a certain phase in my life that ayah bought me a car so i can move on and be happy. he paid for my phone bills, credit card bills and shopping list. i always get the extra allowance money so i can focus on my studies and ayah splurged a lot on my wedding and ayah really indulges his grandson with things and love. i am ever so grateful for this man. i can never pay you back.

all out during my sis' wedding

ayah is also such a big influence in my life cos when i look back and ponder, i inherited his traits and characteristics the most. i am more my father's daughter cos i would talk to him first while ain will go to mak. but lately since bein a mom, i tend to confer more to mak and slowly taking up mak's traits too. but let me share the obvious things that i share with my dad:
  1. our love for books. you wouldnt see either of us without a book in hand. ayah planted the seed of love for bookstores that i can spend hours browsing thru books instead of clothes. only me and ayah have an extensive book collection but ayah got more academic ones while i have more storybooks. (thats from mak)
  2. patience. u are least likely to see my dad to get angry. he is always with a smile. but once he is mad, you wouldnt want to cross his path. he can control his temper well and having 5 girls maketh one a really patient man. that is maybe why some students like me, i rarely get angry. trivial matters does not trigger my interest. but when i do get pissed, the whole school can hear me shout.
  3. moles. i inherited a mass number of moles on my body and very distinct ones on my face. if i were to remove them, you might not recognize me anymore. when i get bored, i count the moles i can see and i always stop midway cos it seems futile cos the moles are infinite. imagine, ayah has more than me.
  4. love for teaching. this applies to ain too. even though it was not an ambition of ours, ayah's love for academic teaching creeped upon us. theres no feeling to describe when your students succeed or at least absorbed things you imparted. i have yet to get to the place where i am as dedicated as ayah but i know i'm getting there. ayah leaves the house early morning and comes back slightly before maghrib. i still have my sons to think of.
  5. minimum speech. i remember when we were first married, hubs was slightly intimidated becos ayah rarely spoke.he is so reserved that you cannot know what he's thinking. he thought ayah dissaproved of him but it is actually ayah's most distinct character. he is the most quiet in our family especially to strangers. when theres a phone call and the speaker waits for us to greet first, it is definitely ayah. he wants to know who's on the phone first. he is not arrogant but he's just not a talkative person. one might feel that way when they meet me the first time. i hardly speak cos i have the need to appraise the stranger first. but once u know me ..
there are more to tell but i'd better stop. i just feel this sudden concern for ayah who changed 180 degrees the last weekend. mak blames the tension at work but i can't see for real, why the sudden change. whatever it is .. what you hope from us, we will try to make it a reality. Insya Allah if it does materialise, it will give success both dunia dan akhirat. whatever it is, ayah we love you and thanks for being there as a father, friend, father in law and grandpa. we pray you lead a long blessed and healthy life.

with the love of his life

with his cheeky cucus
