My family has this tradition of breaking fast together every awal ramadhan and weekends. We used to have the first iftar at Kg Pandan when arwah atuk and opah was still alive. Now, either mak, my uncle or aunts will host it at their place. Food will be abundant like at the bazaar and suasana will surely be chaotic and fun, imagine 20 peeps wanting to speak at the same time and kids running around the place. I know Opah and Atuk are smiling watching us still together, noisy as ever.
This year would be very significant because Hazim fasts for the first time and he succeeded to complete the first day on his first try. RM2 per day can really be a big motivation for a 7 year old. The thing is, Mama will have to cough up a hefty sum if he completes the whole month. He did take Day 2 off but with friends who's fasting without breaking sweat, I expect him to succeed at least 20 days.
Here are the pictures of our 1 day of iftar. All homecooked goodness.(Do not continue if you cannot see images of food while fasting). Oh I miss the company.
We used to help our Opah and now Hazim helps his Opah
